Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have entry-level experience with editing and shooting video. The Student Intern will work closely with reporters producers and writers to learn how to edit news/sports/digital stories for daily newscasts.

The Training Program:

General Responsibilities:

WEEK-TV in East Peoria Illinois is seeking interns to support newsroom operations by helping gather news and information in the field. Interns will edit videos for news stories and assist with digital operations including publishing content to the station website and supporting social media channels.

  • Drive digital engagement: Create content that lives beyond the TV screen think social media streaming apps and web stories because were digital-first always.
  • Collaborate with pros: Work side by side with seasoned veterans who are the best in the business gaining insights you wont find in any textbook.
  • Commit to the craft: Dedicate 25 hours per week for 10 weeks to mastering your specialty and building a professional-grade portfolio.
  • Make an impact: Tell stories that matter to the community or help local businesses grow through innovative media strategies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in a college/university preferably in your senior year.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • College student seniors preferred earning a degree in Journalism/Communications Sales or related fields with a desire to get hands-on experience in the local media industry.
  • This is an entry-level part-time position for someone who wants to get into the broadcasting business.
