WENY News, the ABC, & CBS affiliate located in Horseheads, New York has an immediate opening for a multi-media journalist.
The ideal candidate must be a creative storyteller, possess strong writing and organizational skills, and have the ability to shoot and edit video using Adobe Premiere Pro. Must be able to operate as a one-person band. Social media experience involving Facebook and Twitter in a professional setting also desired. This position includes responsibilities for all aspects of the news gathering process, from story pitches to going live to present your story, and posting to the station website and social media. Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds.
A degree in Journalism, Broadcast Communications, Digital Media or similar field is required.
We're looking for the right person to join our award-winning, tight knit team and continue to elevate our news product that puts a premium on local news content that matters to our community. As a member of our news team, you'll gain experience in many aspects of news coverage, from live opportunities, breaking news, to stories focused on important community matters. You'll also receive feedback and coaching focused on professional development from long-time industry veterans and leaders in news media.
WENY News is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, located just a few hours drive from major cities like NYC, Philadelphia, Buffalo and Toronto. The region is host to beautiful scenery, with access to hiking trails, gorges and waterfalls, lakes and streams, as well as dozens of local wineries, breweries and other cultural attractions.
Salary range: $35,000 - $37,000.
