Automotive Painter

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Painter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, mixing, and applying liquid coatings to automotive and industrial components using professional spray techniques. This is a hands-on position where attention to detail, quality, and safety are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare paints and coatings by measuring and mixing materials according to specifications
• Use precision tools such as viscosity cups, thickness gauges, and gloss meters to ensure proper paint consistency and finish quality
• Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using spray guns, rollers, or brushes based on project requirements
• Operate airless spray guns and related equipment to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes
• Follow all safety procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials
• Wear required PPE, including respirators and protective suits , as needed
• Clean and maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas
• Adhere to standardized processes to ensure consistent and repeatable results
• Work closely with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1+ year of liquid painting experience in automotive or industrial environments
• Hands-on experience with liquid coatings (powder coating alone is not sufficient)
• Experience using airless spray guns
• Ability to wear a respirator for extended periods (8+ hours/day)
• Familiarity with paint measurement tools (viscosity, thickness, gloss)
• Basic understanding of paint chemistry and mixing ratios
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes
• Dependability to work scheduled hours, including mandatory Saturdays

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A Painter experience in an automotive environment
• Experience with industrial coatings or precision manufacturing
• Experience working within ISO-regulated environments (ISO 9001:2015 preferred)
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-driven setting while maintaining quality

Work Environment & Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (overtime available; mandatory Saturdays )
• Production-based facility specializing in industrial coatings and manufacturing
• Regular use of painting equipment, including airless spray systems and testing tools
• PPE required at all times, including respirators and protective gear
• Clean, organized, and safety-focused environment with standardized processes

This is a Permanent position based out of Decatur, IL.

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $58240.00/yr.
